Another great weekend in the sun

The 2024 tournament was as well attended as ever with everyone enjoying the sunshine and bar.

congratulations to all those that competed and thanks to all those that attended and supported. Special thanks to Colin Sarratt, our Tournament Secretary for all the hard work and to all those that offered their time to umpire matches.

Summer of Fun 2023

It's never quiet in Little Moss Lane, Pinner, home of Pinner Lawn Tennis Club. This year has been no exception with over 50 entries for the social tennis, fun season opener and our own Wimbledon Grand Slam event, of course the afternoon tea, pancake night and Caribbean party night were popular too. We have even had a snooker night, it never stops!

The season opener included naming court 2 in honour of much missed Martin Simonis, a fitting tribute to an outstanding club and committee member.

With 9 teams playing in the Middlesex Summer League the serious match tennis took over. At the time of writing we have won two league titles, so congratulations to the Men's 3 and Ladies 2 and we have four promotion parties to plan as well! "This will probably be our most successful year, it's not all about the tennis, so we will have some social time too", said Club Chairman Paul Brazell.

Our coaching team have been amazing and our developing junior members have made great progress gaining places in many of the senior teams and taking some big wins in the early rounds of our 14 club tournaments, with players from 12 to 80 years of age taking part!

On Sunday 5 June, Pinner Lawn Tennis Club members, friends, families and local residents near the club celebrated the royal milestone with a great British party. Everyone enjoyed a great feast with a BBQ (led by Little Moss Lane resident and club member Nigel Taylor) and an amazing range of sweet treats baked by many of our club members. Throughout the day, everyone enjoyed some fun family games outdoors including volleyball, badminton and football tennis.

Gabriel Kuras wins Boys Singles at Milton Keynes

Congratulations to our very own Gabriel Kuras, who won at the G5 Central & East Tour tournament on 29 January at David Lloyd Club Milton Keynes.

In the one-day tournament in a compass draw format, Gabriel prevailed in three strong matches, starting with a 4-3 (1) 4-0 win, coming through a tough three-setter against the No.2 seed that finished with 10-8 final set tiebreak, and ended the day with a superb 4-0 4-1 win against the top seed.

Great job Gabriel!

Off-court diary: Swapping the racket for a golf club

On Saturday 21 August, 16 Pinner Lawn Tennis Club members swapped their tennis rackets for golf clubs and enjoyed a friendly Texas Scramble golf competition at the Pinner Hill course.

Four teams of four set off for 18 holes of entertaining and enjoyable competition - both male and female, and handicaps ranging from 10 to 48.. The Texas Scramble format meant that any 'wild' shots didn't matter, keeping the team spirit alive and everyone enthusiastic.

The afternoon ended with a well-deserved drink at the club patio and celebrating the winners, with only four shots between the first and last team.

Success at the Middlesex Tennis Summer League 2021

A review of the Middlesex Tennis Summer League 2021

After 63 matches played over the course of three and a half months, our nine men's and women's teams have finished this year's Middlesex Tennis Summer League with some notable successes.

Pinner Men's II and III teams promoted

Despite the hurdles faced from the stop and start of tennis earlier this year, our Men's II and III teams have certainly risen to the challenge Their great work on the court has gifted them with promotion to the Intermediate and 1st Divisions respectively for next year. Coupled by the Men's I team staying in the Premier Division and the IV and V teams staying in the 4th Division, this has been a remarkable season for our players.

Club Tournament Final's Day 2021

On a scorching summer day, we held Final's Day, the culmination of our 2021 Club Tournament.

This year we had over 100 entrants across 11 categories, with many taking part in multiple categories. After matches were played over two months, we celebrated the 11 winners on Saturday 17 July 2021.

We also held a raffle where members had the chance to win a big Babolat bundle consisting of a Pure Drive racket, backpack, towel, two cans of Babolat Team balls and a bunch of grips. We'd like to thank everyone who contributed so generously to the Final's Day raffle. Some of the money raised was donated to Tennis4theworld, the raffle winner's chosen charity. They are a charity based in the UK that collects unwanted tennis equipment and clothing and distributes it to schools, colleges and social development projects around the world.

The day wouldn't have been complete without a great BBQ!

Thanks to all involved in the running of the tournament, everyone who participated and came to Final's Day. We look forward to next year's tournament!

About the Club Tournament

Our club tournament is the highlight of the year and attracts a good crowd where everyone supports each other. Matches are played through May, June and July, culminating in a special club event when the finals are played over the course of a Saturday.

Alex Brown wins consolation final at Ealing Mini Championships 2021

Junior success keeps on coming as Alex Brown won the consolation final in the 11U Boys Singles at the Grade 4 Ealing Mini Championships 2021.

He is also part of the Pinner team in the 14U Boys 2nd division of the Middlesex National League Summer 2021.

Well done to Alex - keep up the great tennis!

Parth Shah wins Men's Singles at Windsor Open 2021

Congratulations to our very own Parth Shah, winner of the Men's Singles tournament at the Grade 3 Windsor Open 2021. He ended the weeklong tournament with a gutsy 4-6 6-4 10-6 victory. Oliver Foran also participated and reached the semi-finals.
