Coaching at Pinner Lawn Tennis Club

Want to get more enjoyment out of your tennis? Our qualified coaches offer lessons for players of all skills and ages. Whether you want to learn the basics or work on a certain part of your game, nothing beats the satisfaction of mastering a skill and knowing that you are improving your tennis.


Similarly, the earlier a child gets proper coaching, the more enjoyment they will get from the game. A lot of the work coaches do with adults is correcting bad tennis habits, so the earlier your child learns the correct techniques and skills the more they will be able to achieve with their tennis in later life.


Like everything else at the club, we intend to make our coaching enjoyable. Lessons usually last an hour and cover techniques, positioning, tactics and game practice. Lessons can be in a group or a one-to-one basis.


We have several highly qualified coaches at the club, who coach players of all skills and ages. Please see the coaches, adult coaching groups and kids lessons pages for more details and costs.

Please note: 

Rates apply from April 1st 2024 - 31st March 2025

48 hours notice is required for cancellation of any lesson. Otherwise the full lesson fee must be paid.

There are no hitting charges for coaches, the coaches hourly rates are as above.

The minimum price per person for any group/shared lesson is £11.00 per hour.

All non-members will be charged £2.50 for each hourly individual or £2 for each hourly group lesson on top of the coaching fee, unless a Coaching Only subscription has been paid.

Adult Tennis Lessons

Adult Tennis Lessons

Pinner Lawn Tennis Club runs lessons for adults. They can help you get much more out of your tennis - whether you want to learn the basics or work on a particular aspect of your game. Sessions are designed to be enjoyable and help you develop the techniques, skills and tactics you need to make progress. They’re also great motivation to simply get up and out of the house!

You can book a coach on an individual basis, as a group, or you can come along to our drop-in group coaching sessions. Please see the prices and times below.

Group Adult Coaching

Beginner level session

Saturday 2pm - 3pm


We work on a theme each week such as:


  • Forehand and backhand consistency
  • How to change the direction of the ball
  • Early preparation and shot selection
  • What to expect of certain shots
  • Where to stand to maintain and gain control

We then put this into practice with some doubles play.


Cost: £12 per head/£14 Non Members

Improver level sessions

Monday 11am - 12pm

Tuesday 8pm - 10pm


We work on a theme each week such as:


  • Forehand consistency
  • Return of serve
  • What to expect of certain shots
  • Where to stand to maintain and gain control

We then put this into practice with some doubles play.


The Tuesday sessions are split into two one hour sessions (8pm - 9pm and 9pm - 10pm).


Cost: £12 per head/£14 Non Members

Social player level sessions

Tuesday 1pm - 2pm


We work on a theme each week such as:


  • Forehand and backhand consistency
  • How to change the direction of the ball
  • Early preparation and shot selection
  • What to expect of certain shots
  • Where to stand and maintain and gain control

We then put this into practice with some doubles play.


Cost: £12 per head/£14 Non Members

Team player level sessions

Tuesday 2pm - 3pm

Tuesday 8pm - 10pm


We work on a theme each week such as:


  • Forehand consistency
  • Return of serve
  • What to expect of certain shots
  • Where to stand to maintain and gain control
  • Strategic doubles play
  • Understanding better tactics
  • Working out patterns of play
  • Playing together as a team more

We then put this into practice with some doubles play.


The Tuesday evening sessions are split into two one hour sessions (8pm - 9pm and 9pm - 10pm).


Cost: £12 per head/£14 Non Members

You don’t have to be a full member of the club to join coaching sessions - you can take out a cheaper Coaching Only subscription if you prefer. See our membership page for details.
